How Velora handles your information — in plain language.
Velora (the "app", "we", or "us") is a music, video and internet-radio player for Android, iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Mac, published by Dowble. It plays media files stored on your own device and radio streams you choose. This Privacy Policy explains what the app does and does not do with information on your device and on the network.
Unless a subsection below says otherwise, everything is processed locally on your device only and is never sent to us.
With your permission, the app scans your device for audio and video files (on iOS, your Photos videos, your
Music library and any folders you add from the Files app; on Mac, your Music, Movies and Downloads folders and any
folder you choose). To build your library it reads each file's metadata — title, artist, album, genre, duration and
embedded artwork — and stores this index in a private local database. Files are only read for playback; the app
never modifies, uploads or deletes them. Lyrics are read from your own files (embedded lyrics or a matching
.lrc file); the app does not download lyrics.
Playlists, favourites, saved radio stations, resume positions, play counts and listening history are stored in the app's private storage so features such as Recently Played, Most Played and "continue where you left off" work.
Album art extracted from your files, video thumbnails, and station logos are cached in the app's private storage so your library loads quickly.
When you play a station, the app connects directly to that station's stream server, the same way any radio app or web browser does. That server receives the technical information every internet connection carries (such as your IP address) and the song titles it broadcasts come back to the app. Which stations you add and play is stored only on your device.
When you search for or browse stations, your search text (and any filter you pick, such as a country or genre) is sent to the public Radio Browser directory, a free community service with no accounts. Nothing that identifies you is sent with it.
To show cover art for the song a station is broadcasting, the app first looks in your own library. If nothing matches, it asks Apple's public iTunes Search service using only the artist and song title. You can switch this off in Settings → Album art for radio. To find a logo for a saved station, the app may read the station's own website and ask Google's public favicon service for that website's icon, sending only the website's address.
When you tap the microphone in search, the app uses your device's built-in speech recognition to turn your words into search text. The app itself does not record or store audio. Depending on your device and settings, the system speech service (Google on Android, Apple on iOS and macOS) may process the audio on its servers under that company's own privacy policy. Voice search is never active unless you tap the mic.
When you choose to add a station by scanning a QR code, the camera preview is analysed on your device to read the code. Nothing is photographed, recorded or uploaded.
Your settings — theme, accent colour, font, language, playback and equaliser options — are stored locally. The app's default typeface is downloaded from Google Fonts the first time it is needed (and again for any other font you pick, except the system font, which needs no download). Fonts are then kept on the device. No personal data is sent with these requests.
If you connect to Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, or use the home-screen widgets or the Apple Watch app, the app shows your library, stations and what is playing on those screens. On Apple Watch, songs you pin (and your recent music, if you turn that on) are copied from your iPhone to the watch so it can play them on its own; they stay on the watch. All of this stays between your own devices and the car; we receive nothing.
On iPhone, iPad and Mac, your saved stations and settings can be kept in step across your own devices using your personal iCloud account. That data is stored by Apple in your iCloud, not by us, and we cannot access it.
Velora does not access your contacts, call logs, messages, location, or accounts, and it does not use advertising identifiers.

Every optional permission can be refused or revoked at any time; the rest of the app keeps working. The app never asks for your location.
Information accessed by the app is used solely to provide the features you see: indexing and playing your media, playing the radio stations you choose, searching, showing artwork, remembering where you left off, keeping local listening statistics, and honouring your preferences. We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to those features.
We do not share, sell, rent or disclose your information to anyone, and we have no servers that receive it. The only information that leaves your device is the limited, feature-driven requests described in section 2 — to the radio stations you play, the station directory, and the artwork and font services — and anything you deliberately send yourself, for example using Share to send a playlist or file to another app, or emailing us feedback. App data is kept in the operating system's private per-app storage, which other apps cannot read. Network requests made by the app's own features use HTTPS wherever the service supports it; some radio stations only broadcast over plain HTTP, which is the station's choice. Because nothing is uploaded to us, there is no Dowble database that could be breached.
Velora is a general-purpose media player and is not directed to children under 13. It does not knowingly collect personal information from children, and it has no accounts, chat, or user-to-user features.
Velora does not integrate advertising networks, analytics SDKs, crash reporters or social login. The app contacts the following only when you use the related feature:
Media playback is handled by open-source engines running on your device.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under privacy laws such as the GDPR or CCPA. Since Velora does not collect or hold any of your personal data on our side, there is nothing for us to access, correct, export or delete on your behalf — full control rests with you on your device.
We may update this Privacy Policy if the app's features change. When we do, we will revise the "Effective" date above and publish the updated policy at this address. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
