Privacy Policy

How Tilo handles your notes, photos and personal information โ€” in plain language.

App: Tilo Package: com.rich4.tilo Platform: Android Version: 2.1.3 Effective: 11 October 2026

The short version

1. Who we are

Tilo (the "app", "we", or "us") is an Android notes and journal app by Dowble. You use it to capture thoughts, links, photos, phone numbers and email addresses in one place, and it sorts them into tabs for you. This Privacy Policy explains what the app does and does not do with information on your device.

2. Information the app accesses

Tilo processes the following information locally on your device. Apart from the link previews described in (c), nothing is sent off the device by the app.

a. Notes and entries

Everything you write or share into Tilo is saved in a local database in the app's private storage. The app reads entries to detect links, phone numbers and email addresses so it can sort them into tabs and offer actions such as Open, Call or Email. This detection runs on your device. Deleted entries go to an in-app Trash first and are removed permanently after a period or when you empty them.

b. Photos

When you add a photo, you choose it from the system photo picker or take it with your device's camera app. Tilo copies the chosen image into its own private storage so it stays attached to the entry. The app does not browse your gallery and does not hold the Camera permission. The system camera app takes the picture.

c. Link previews (network)

When an entry contains an https:// link, Tilo downloads that web page to read its title, description and preview image, much like a messaging app does. That request goes directly from your device to the website in the link. Like any web request, the website can see your IP address and that a Tilo app fetched the page. Your note text is not sent. Previews are cached in memory only while the app is open. Plain http:// links are not fetched.

d. Content shared to the app

If you use "Add to Tilo" from another app's share menu, the "Open with" menu or the text-selection toolbar, Tilo receives the text, link, contact card or images you chose and saves them as a new entry. It receives only what you shared, at the moment you share it.

e. App preferences

Your settings (theme, colours, font, language, onboarding state and recent searches) are stored locally on your device.

Tilo does not access your contacts list, call logs, SMS, location, microphone, the advertising ID or any online account.

3. Permissions and why they are needed

PermissionPurpose
INTERNET Used only to fetch link previews from the websites named in your entries (section 2c). The app does not use it to upload notes, photos, settings or usage data.

That is the only permission Tilo requests. Photo picking, taking a picture, saving a phone number to Contacts, dialling, sending SMS or email and sharing all go through Android's own screens. You complete those actions in the other app.

4. How information is used

Information processed by the app is used solely to provide its features:

We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to the features you see in the app.

5. Data sharing and transfers

We do not share, sell, rent or disclose your notes or personal information to anyone, and we do not receive them ourselves. The only data leaving your device because of the app is the link-preview request to the website named in a link (section 2c). No serversNo adsNo analyticsNo accounts

6. Data retention and deletion

Your entries, photos and settings remain on your device until you delete them. You can:

Backup files you export from Settings are ordinary zip files saved or shared wherever you chose. They are not removed when you uninstall Tilo, so delete them yourself if you no longer want them. If Android's own device backup is turned on, Android may include the app's data in your Google device backup. You control that in Android Settings, and we cannot access it.

7. Security

Tilo keeps your data in Android's private per-app storage, which other apps cannot read. On modern Android devices, that storage is also encrypted by the system. Because we run no server holding your notes, there is no server-side database of your entries that could be breached. Link previews use HTTPS only. Keep exported backup files somewhere you trust, since they contain your notes and photos.

8. Children's privacy

Tilo is a general-purpose notes app and is not directed to children under 13. It does not knowingly collect personal information from children, and it holds no user data on our side for anyone of any age.

9. Third-party services

Tilo does not include advertising networks, analytics or crash-reporting SDKs, or social login. Websites you link to are contacted only to build previews. Their own privacy policies apply to those requests. Apps you choose for sharing, email, calls or contacts handle the content you send them under their own policies.

10. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under privacy laws such as the GDPR or CCPA. Because Tilo does not collect or hold your personal data on our servers, there is nothing for us to access, correct, export or delete on your behalf. Full control rests with you on your device. You can export everything as a backup from Settings, or delete all data by clearing storage or uninstalling the app.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy if the app's features change. When we do, we will revise the "Effective" date above and publish the updated policy at this address. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
